Gardening Joy

Lily
I love flowers, to me, they always bring big smiles and warm my heart. One of the priceless joys in life that I enjoy is gardening. When I moved here to the US, one of my initial fears then was not being able to succeed in growing plants because of the different weather here than back home. But to my surprise, it seemed nothing change, I can cut a stem, plant in the soil, and viola, the magic work! From stem, it would grow bigger and then bloom! The blooming part makes me always celebrate. There are other varieties though that I had to read more about plant care to be more successful. All the flowers here in this post were the product of my gardening joy.

The View From the Road in Eastern Sierra

Hwy 168  in Bishop, Eastern Sierra, CA
The Eastern Sierra is one of our favorite nature escapes from San Diego, CA. Perhaps, this is the only place we go that we do not plan for any destination nor we do not make any hotel reservations. It is during this time, where we follow the famous travel quote from Lao Tzu- " A good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving."

Two days before our school ended, I got several inquiries from colleagues asking me where would I be spending my vacation. My quick reply was, "STAYCATION!"

Swimming Apparel For Frigid Water

These two beach-goers are not really two of a kind in our beaches here. With both water and air temperature in the low 60s plus the chilly breeze/wind which makes it feel colder, you would see fewer people on the beaches. However, on the days where air temperature would hit 70- 80s, you would see a lot of people here with their two piece swim suits, but they mostly stay on the sand since the water temperature still in the 60s.

The Power of Blogging

There is so much joy in sharing.....
I still remember the first day I started to blog. There was that joy about nature so explosive I could not simply keep it inside me. Writing allowed me to share that raging joy from our wonderful road at the back roads. My first few visitors were my family and close friends, because I emailed them my excitement of having a blog. Big deal for me, really! :) My first post was about The Hoodoos of Bryce Canyon National Park.

Minimizing Bounce Rate in your Blog

First, what is bouncing rate? Google Analytics define browse rate as:
"Bounce rate is the percentage of single-page visits or visits in which the person left your site from the entrance (landing) page. "
Though there is no specific formula how to minimize bounce rate, because we have no control over how others visit our site, but sometimes, we ourselves are the reason why we have high bounce rate. I must admit I was doing these also before, thus, I was also contributing before to a higher bounce rate in my sites.

What are some of these reasons that we may know we are causing higher bounce rate to our site?
1. The links we put in our posts. For a while, all the links in my posts would open the link in the same viewing browser, thus my links caused my visitors to leave my site right away. It was only lately, that I have learned to how to open links in another window. If we could not minimize or avoid external links, we can choose to open those links in a new window.

Another Day At La Jolla Shores Beach, San Diego, CA

@ Scripps Pier, La Jolla Shores Beach, CA
Yes, swimming in double layers :) Underneath my rash guard and surf shorts is a wet suit :) And I am not starting a trend, but instead, gearing up to still have fun despite the cold water and strong surf. And I am not alone in this swim wear, notice all the others preparing to plunge in the ocean were wearing wet suit. :)

Avocados In So Many Ways

How do you eat your avocados? I used to eat avocado in only 2 ways when I was still in the Philippines. These 2 ways include avocado and condensed milk, and then making avocado ice candy ( or we call it back home 'ago-go' in avocado flavor).
