How Both Nature and Music Clear My Mind

After reading Windy's blog post: A Poem par Excellence in Lainy's Musings, flashback of my younger days came to play in my mind.  It seems like I am hearing my late mom's soft voice as she would often chant to me the words in Desiderata as her way of helping me learn about some very important values in life.

Plants of Inner Strength

There is beauty in everything, the most beautiful of all is one that is not seen by the eye but felt by the heart. In this post, I will be sharing the deeper beauty I found in a seaweed.
Seaweed, Point Lobos State Natural Reserve, CA
When you look at sea weeds, they look so fragile outside, as if they can break easily. However, they are one of the best examples of having exemplary inner strength. They may look weak outside, but they are super strong to even come undisturbed after all the powerful crashing of unforgiving waves.

Home Decorating

Our Living Room ( Christmas 2010) - photo courtesy of Tes
One of the things I love doing aside from hiking, nature wandering, gardening and cooking is of course, home decorating. Because of these too many interests, I was confused when I was in high school what to major in college. At one point, I told my late mom I would want to major in culinary arts. At another point, I asked my mom if I could major in pharmacy since I love reading and learning about pharmacokinetics. At another instance, I asked my mom if I could major in nutrition. Then, of course, I also asked if I could major in architecture and minor in interior design. I also asked if there is a course for landscape designer since I wanted to be one. I simply was too confused what to major in college that I ended up not taking anything of those I mentioned above, haha. However, my love for those I mentioned stayed with me, that whenever at home, I love cooking and thinking of how to arrange our house. I very seldom take picture of our house though. The picture above last Christmas 2010 was actually taken by a friend during our TSS CA reunion. Maybe one of these days, I would take some time to take pictures of our home, of course, not abandoning my love for taking pictures outside. :)

Strumming My Pain With His Fingers

My Hubby Love :)
Do you still remember your high school crush, and the song you would sing always whenever you see your crush? I do! :) I love reminiscing at those giggly years, where me and my group of friends ( there were for of us) would name ourselves, "THE BEATLES!" Whenever we were together outside of school, we would find some tree branch to climb and to sit, bringing along with us my friends' guitars. :) I was the only one among 4 of us who did not own a guitar, and I made that an excuse why I was not good in playing, haha.  Probably, I was also the most out-of-tune most of the time, but who cared? We all had fun together, singing our songs! Though we were the "Beatles", but whenever it was my turn to sing and play the guitar, I would sing "Killing Me Softly". I would think about my "crush" deeply, and start singing....(sing with me)

Batchoy

Batchoy is an Ilonggo ( western visayas region in the Philippines) noodle soup where the noodle is like no other because it is made of freshly made pancit or freshly made noodle. This is one of the foods I missed while in the Philippines for vacation. The broth is beef based.

PS.....I am still here in Philippines, but actually waiting for my flight to Los Angeles. While waiting, I decided to make use of the waiting time updating this blog. Hope to be back to blogosphere soon.

Watching The Day Pass By

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Harman Stoves. All opinions are 100% mine.
Sunrise From Home
There are some days where instead of doing some outdoor exploring, we felt like just sitting down and watching the day pass us by. They don't come very often, since I and hubby always love a more active exploring, whether on land or in water. However, last Saturday was one of those very few days where we instead mostly sat down and watched the day went by. It all started with waking up to a beautiful sunrise.

One With The Wave

Floating on my board, paddling the water with my hands carelessly
I looked into the horizon while listening to the momentary silence
Behind me, a giant swell formed
My gaze locked on the swell that soon curled into  a tube

Dreaming of An Infinity Pool

Sunset Cliffs, San Diego, CA
In the deep silence of my mind, beyond the sounds of my keyboard, I am presently dreaming of an infinity pool. :) No, not the infinity pool that you think of where it produces a visual effect of water extending into the horizon. I am referring to the ocean, a real infinity pool, where the water that extends into the horizon is not a result of architectural design, but by God's magnificent design. I just love being in the sea. I wish for the water to go warmer so I can enjoy being one with the wave again, and hopefully swim with some of my favorite water friends, the dolphins! :) Oh yes! I am dreaming!
