Sea Food and Dining in Alaska

Before our trip to Alaska, I already conditioned myself that aside from the breathtaking scenery of Alaska, I will drown myself in seafood! First day, we had a feast on king salmon, oh, so yummy!!!

Freshly Caught Salmon

I think I overstuffed myself during the first day at Anchorage.

The next day, we were on our way to Seward for Kenai Fjords National Park ( perhaps my most favorite National Park among all I visited ). Before hitting Seward, we took the Major Major Marine 5-hour Prince William sound Glacier cruise which departs at Whittier, Alaska.

Some photos from the 5-hour Prince William Sound Glacier Cruise

The cruise serves meal on board where we enjoyed Alaska king salmon and prime rib served buffet style. I feasted on salmon because I don't eat steak ( can't even look at steaks, sorry ), and their rice pilaf is very tasty! I thought I would miss rice like in most of our adventure trips, but having rice in our first day in Alaska was like heaven to me.
Photo Courtesy of Major Marine Tours (sorry, I was too excited shooting the glaciers and wildlife in Prince William Sound that we did not bother taking photos of their sumptuous foods)

And their deserts are so yummy! We were fully stuffed in that 5-hour glacier cruise. After the cruise, we drove from Whittier to Seward where we would be staying for several days. We arrived in Seward at about 9:30 pm, and the front desk told us restaurants close at 10:00 pm. Since we were still feeling full from the cruise foods, we decided to feast on fresh Seward seafoods the next day, I was already dreaming high! Alaskan king crab, halibut, mussels, oysters, name it, it must be there freshly caught in Seward!

But what happened the next day? Ahhhhhhh!!!!!

Flying High above Exit Glacier, Harding Icefield Trail

We had too much fun in our hike to Harding Icefield. And if hiking to Harding Icefield was not enough, we added Exit Glacier. We were done with our combined hike at 9:00 pm! We still should have 1 hour to have my dream oh so yummy seafood dinner! But that's not what happened! You know, when you are out, you forget about time. What happened next was extended photo moments at Kenai Fjords National Park entrance sign, a lot of stops to capture Exit Glacier and the mountains with some colored sky, and before we knew it, it was almost 10:00 pm!
Exit Glacier Up Close

We rushed going to Seward's Chinook's Waterfront Restaurant, but sadly, we were told they were closing. We moved to Ray's Restaurant and then to another restaurant but all of them told us they were closing. My dreams of feasting on sea foods did not happen.

What did I end up having? Ahhhhhhh, sad it may be, but I had buffalo chicken wings and clam chowder from Safeway, a supermarket like Von's that was the only option we have to find foods after 10:00 pm! The good side was, having food at Safeway Supermarket is cheaper than in the restaurants. The next day, we took the 7-hour Major Marine Tours Kenai Fjords National Park Cruise, and we were stuffed again of salmon and prime rib, though I feasted only on rice pilaf and salmon. Anyway, I had my fill of a variety of seafood meals, but no longer in Seward, would you believe, in Denali
Mt. McKinley, Denali National Park, AK

Denali is already hundreds of miles away from the coast and from where the fishing is. Ahhhh, but I believe a halibut and king crab meal in Denali tasted as good as in Seward. Thankfully, dinner in Denali's Mckinley Village Lodge is open until 10:30 pm! I just did not really gobbled the way I had earlier imagined since the prices of sea food in Denali is very pricey, way too pricey. :(

Baked King Crab, Spicy tiger Prawns with sushi Rice from Simon and Seafort, Anchorage

In our last night at Alaska, we tried Simon and Seafort Restaurant in Anchorage. The view was great, overlooking Alaskan Range, but sadly I was sitting with a so so view to take pictures :(
my view from Simon and Seafort

The foods were very good. I tasted almost everyone's meal :) haha!

In summary, here is what I have learned about Alaska dining:

Most restaurants close at 10:00 pm. If you are enjoying the hikes and outdoors so much, and you may not be able to get back to civilization by 10:00 pm, see to it you get a room with a kitchen and be ready to cook your own meals! If you stay at Seward, there are many freshly caught fish at the harbor!!

Let's Dance

Let's Dance! :)

Do I look like dancing in the above picture? Naaah!! Haha! However, the beauty of the places just makes me wanna dance! And my heart there actually was dancing with joy!! I love dancing, dancing to me is such a joyful celebration of happy moments in life. Though I dance for exercise too, but most of the times I hop to dance when I feel happy, or very happy!!!!! Dancing also liven up parties, and add joy to wedding. Wedding guests always are thrilled to see the couple dancing to their music. Some couples who want to have the best wedding dance memory during their wedding party enroll in wedding dance lessons, that gives them the confidence that their wedding would have one very meaningful wedding dance!!

As for me, I feel like dancing right now! Let's dance!!

A Beach Vacation to Treasure- St. Kitts

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of St. Kitts Marriott Resort & Royal Beach Casino for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Yep, count me among the sentimental beings of this world. At least I am not hopeless when it comes to matters of the heart having found MY ONE GREAT LOVE. You know that certain feeling of contentment when you wake up beside the one you love the most. Your heart goes pitter patter at dawn knowing that someone will always be there for you no matter what! Like most lovers tied with the eternal bond of marriage the hubby and I have plans of enjoying a second honeymoon. What better place could there be than St. Kitts Marriott Resort & Royal Beach Casino where we could explore nature, watch sunset after sunset, gaze at the moon at night and play  hide and seek with the tide.

We've always wanted to have all the time in the world to just explore mother nature and knowing that in St. Kitts time could standstill while we savor fruit juices freshly harvested and listen to the wind blowinggently on our cheeks whilst having a blast restaurant hopping. I'm beginning to think I could finally write my first novel there. Every girl could dream right? On the part of the hubby I bet he'd have a blast just digging his feet on sand.

One amenity in particular we look forward to indulging in at St. Kitts Marriott Resort & Royal Beach Casino is the spa. We'd love to try the Emerald Mist Spa which is sure to rejuvenate us. The couple's suite sounds awesome! The hubby loves having his nails pampered too and we've been kidding each other about having those much needed face and body therapies. The hot whirlpools sound so calming. We might as well try the Mango Orchard Spa too! Overlooking the rain forest ravine and amidst a lush tropical resort am sure we might wanna stay longer than planned!

I remember one staycation we've been planning but never got to fulfill because he couldn't find the coupon that came with his discount card. This time am sure with St. Kitts Marriott Super Sand Dollars offer of  staying four (4) nights and getting three (3) nights free he will be able to make up for his failed promise.
Discover St. Kitts Package and other great deals too and join us on a  Beach Vacation to Treasure Forever! I am excited as it is to bring books I never got the time to read. I have cleaned my camera lenses and purchased new memory cards and packed my skirts and dresses for our numerous photo shoots.

Places such as St. Kitts where swaying palms and hillside greet one all the time with peace and happiness and where one could contemplate on the lessons of the past through a rock museum is what I personally could call the best relaxation destination.
